ARTIST'S STATEMENT

I make art because it is a tangible way for me to understand my own presence. Conscious exploration is the process of asking questions. As I ask myself questions about who I am and what I am capable of, I work to find the answers in clay. It is a strong way to connect my mind to my body.

Through clay, I was introduced to the world of art and design, a universe I had never imagined could exist. There are so many others who, just as I used to, miss out on the challenge and beauty of artwork; but only because they do not understand the relevance it has in their own lives. I design and create so that what I make can be an invitation; an education. True art sharpens one’s appreciation for all artistic endeavors, and by creating pots that are useful and comfortable – while being visually engaging and texturally creative – I invite people to enjoy all forms of art.
