IVY KILLEN

Ivy Killen b&w

Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design

"The essence of interior design will always be about people and how they live. It is about the realities of what makes for an attractive, civilized, meaningful environment, not about fashion or what's in or what's out. This is not an easy job.”
– Albert Hadley

ARTIST'S STATEMENT

My mission as a designer is to provide people with aesthetically pleasing but efficient solutions for a better use of the provided space. My goal is to improve the user experience by better managing the space available in the intervened environment all while enhancing the function, safety and aesthetics of the spaces while taking into account how different colors, textures, furniture, lighting, and space work together to meet humans needs. I desire to make the world a greener place though sustainable concepts and design solutions. My style lends itself to the craftsmanship of bold interior spaces that are destined to leave a unique mark in those who experience them. Design comes as a natural reaction for me, to a point where it can be all I see when I experience a space. My approach always begins with what I can do to enhance the bones that are so present, and always revolves around how to make the space flow better. To me, these aspects are just as important as the aesthetics. Great spaces do not just happen, they are created, and I desire to be the creator.
