“ But no except Lucy knew that as it circled the mast it had whispered to her, “Courage, dear heart,” and the voice, she felt sure, was Aslan’s, and with the voice a delicious smell breathed in her face.”
– C.S. Lewis, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

ARTIST'S STATEMENT

As a little girl I was always drawn to magic, wonder, and beauty. When I grew older I grew in my personal belief and adoration for Jesus Christ. My eyes were opened to the beauty, wonder, and magic that God wove into creation every day. I long to reflect realistic things through the lens of one who believes, much like a child. As a child, I was mesmerized by the whimsical animations of early Disney films like Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and Peter Pan. The woman who created the color schemes and fantastical backdrops, Mary Blair, has inspired my work greatly. In my work, fairy tales are reality, small details make the masterpiece, and rich colors sparkle. Even in my darkest painting, there will always be a light of hope.
