When I was a young girl, I always got excited when the new issue of Vogue showed up on my kitchen counter each month. I loved the way the pages looked and felt in my hands. It didn't matter if I understood what any of the articles or ads were talking about, I loved every second of flipping through pages. Looking back now, that passion for those magazines was one of the earliest evidences of a love for design in my life. I still feel that same way about Vogue as I did back then, but now I enjoy looking at each page in a new way. Analyzing the text, the layout, the photography, the fashion, and the way it all intertwines and flows is something I’m passionate about now in a way I wasn’t then. The more and more I learn about design, the greater my appreciation and interest grows. Someday I hope to work in fashion, magazine design, print design, or some combination of all three to contribute in some way or another to that feeling I got as young girl with the new issue of Vogue in my hands.

If you just stay in your studio and try and dream up new ideas, that's not a good foundation for your idea. Just get out there and experience life. That gives you the library in your head to then translate that into unique, new design work.
